Fun in the Snow

Today we awoke to yard full of snow. It was so pretty to see all the white stuff covering everything. We don't see too much of that here in KY. So, we made the most of it.

The snow was great for packing and rolling balls for a Snowman.

Cohen was sick of his red hat, so he traded the snowman for his green one! He is talking to Mr. Snowman telling him how much he loves him!!

Cohen will not be an only child for much longer...

As excited as I am to think about this new and wonderful life that will be blessing our family soon, it is making me stop and think about my special years with Cohen. All of the one-on-one time that we have had. I am sitting here crying--like a pathetic hormonal pregnant women.

Cohen is so great, and so fun that I can't help but worry that with my attention split between two, I will miss some the the "great" and "fun" things he does. Also, can I really love another baby as much as I love Cohen?

I know I sound crazy, especially since I myself am a second born child. I have never felt any less love or been given less attention because of being second. Everyone says that, time, is the only answer to my question and that soon I will see just how possible it is to love two kids and much as one.

Back Home and Getting the Rooms Ready...

After our trip to Idaho and Utah, I came home with the whole "Nesting" bug in me. I started on Cohen's cowboy quilt, curtains with valances, and other decorations for the nursery and Cohen's new room.

These projects are also my excuses for not blogging in a couple months. Now, I just have to clean my house and go through all of my boxed up "Newborn" clothes.

Our Unexpected Christmas Trip Home...

On Sunday, December 16th 2007 we recieved some sad news. Marshall's Grandpa Blaine had passed away. We were sad, but glad that Grandpa Blaine is now with his wife, Grandma Bonnie. He was 79 years young, and dog sledding in Ashton near Island Park days before he passed away. We will love and miss him.

We decided to give up our planned Christmas gifts and spend the money on tickets to the funeral. We left Wednesday the 19th and took a flight into Idaho Falls. Our decision to come home was bitter-sweet. It was going to be sad because of the loss of Blaine, but nice to come "home" for Christmas.

Funeral services were great. It was nice to see all the family that we had not seen in a long time. Marshall has skipped the family reunion for the last 10 years so there was a lot of people to see. It was great to catch up with family at the viewing and during the luncheon.

We stayed in Rexburg at Jeff and Lynda's house until Saturday when we drove to Utah to be with my parents, Dave and Karen Lambert. During our stay at Jeff and Lynda's we had some great food, and fun gift exchanges.

At the Lambert's we had tonz of food and gifts as well. My mother and I spent most of the day on the 24th getting the food ready for a great Christmas Eve buffet. The Ham was wonderful and the rolls were soft and warm. It was a awesome. It put both my mother and I in the 200's for our blood sugar!! Oh well, Chirstmas Eve comes but once a year!

On Christmas Morning we awoke to a living room full of presents and full "Santa Sacks." My mother, Karen is such a miracle worker. She works so hard to make the Christmas morning presentation spactacular. She kills herselft doing so, and we all appreciate and love it. The stocking were also full of gift cards, toothburshes, and candy.

We had a great Christmas breakfast before Marshall and my Dad went to Sundace to Ski with my aunt and uncle. I was really jealous, but thought about what would happen if I fell!!

It was a great trip and a wonderful Christmas. We are so blessed to have our parents in our lives and feel their love always.

Thanksgiving with the Hawkes...

Our big Thanksgiving event has come and gone. It was a busy, fun and eventful weekend. The family arrived on Wednesday the 21st and stayed until the following Monday at 1:00pm. It was so much fun. We had lots of food, fun, conversation, kiddy crafts, and horse races. It was exactly as I pictured it would be. My best memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas always begin with a full house and lots of food.

Cohen's Cousins

During their stay, we attempted to get a family photos.

This photo was taken just once, there were not second chances. Marshall was so sick he had to rush to the restroom and puke after the photo was snapped!! Plus, it was really cold outside and we all were freezing.

What a fun year of Thanksgiving memories. I can't wait for our turn to host it again.

Two and up Two no good...

Since Cohen has turned two years, it has been a humbling experience. Marshall and I used to brag about having the most perfect child. Don't get me wrong. He is still a great kid--and very close to perfect, but has been WAY more rowdy that ever.

Cohen was always a pretty mellow kid. We could ususally make through and entire sacrament meeting without having to take him outside. Last week, he spent a total of 3 minutes in the meeting--and that was 3 minutes too many!!

He makes it is so hard for us to get mad at him. As soon as Marshall or I start using our stern voices, Cohen turns up the charm. He will ask for hugs and kisses and give us the sweetest most innocent smile. He does all this in hopes that we will forget why we are mad. The worst part--is that it WORKS!!! Oh, the terrible twos!

Halloween Trunk or Treat

On Friday, October 26th we went to the annual Louisville 6th Ward Trunk or Treat. This year they also combined this activity with a Chili Cookoff. It was a lot of fun. Cohen was not sure about his costume until we got to the church and he saw the other kiddos in their costumes.

Cohen met up with his good pal Livvy Mortensen in the gym, and they would not stop running. All of the other kids had left the gym and were outside in the parking lot "trick or treating." Not Cohen and Livvy. They stayed inside to keep running and screaming. Finally Wayne Mortensen and I had to grap the kids and drag them outside.


Once outside, Cohen was quick to get a hang of it. After 2 or 3 tries, Cohen had the "treat" and "thank you" down pat. It was so cute.
